The Opportunity:We're partnering with a well-established Canadian engineering firm specializing in power systems and industrial automation. They are currently seeking a Field Service Technician (VFDs / Drives) to support clients across industrial plants, commercial facilities, and critical infrastructure environments.This opportunity is ideal for an early to mid-career technician looking to deepen their expertise in variable frequency drives and motor control systems. You'll work alongside a highly experienced team, gaining hands-on exposure to commissioning, troubleshooting, and advanced drive applications, with strong opportunities for technical growth and specialization.What You'll Be Doing:
  • Supporting the start-up, commissioning, and field service of variable frequency drives (VFDs) across low and medium voltage applications
  • Assisting with installation, configuration, and optimization of drive systems and motor control setups
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting drive-related issues, including faults, parameter settings, and performance inefficiencies
  • Interpreting electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and control schematics to support service work
  • Supporting plant shutdowns, system upgrades, and reactive service calls alongside senior technicians
  • Using diagnostic tools and software to monitor drive performance and capture system data
  • Documenting service activities and contributing to clear, concise technical reports for clients
  • Traveling within Canada
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience working with VFDs, motor controls, or industrial electrical systems
  • Solid understanding of three-phase systems, motors, and drive applications
  • Exposure to commissioning or servicing industrial equipment in the field is an asset
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with a desire to build deeper expertise in drive systems
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with senior technical staff
  • Valid driver's license and passport, with flexibility for travel
  • Professional communication skills and a customer-focused approach
Compensation Range: $65,000 - $75,000
