However, this position will be required to travel to outlying LLRIB communities to provide public health programming to clients.About the position: The Public Nurse will use his/her assessment and nursing skills to effectively assist the clients to maintain an optimal level of health; Utilize Assessment, educating, & nursing skills to carry out Public Health Nursing programming;Duties:
  • Educating clients in the prenatal and postnatal period’s in-group or individual settings;
  • Carrying out comprehensive health program in the schools;
  • Assessing the needs of band members, making necessary referrals and assisting families;
  • Pre and postnatal care;
  • Communicable Disease Control & Tuberculosis programming;
  • Providing direct care by assessing client health needs, planning care, implementing interventions & evaluating outcomes;
  • Promote healthy lifestyles & health promotion;
  • Act as a client advocate & a liaison between LLRIBHS & other agencies;
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, Must be in good standing and registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS);
  • Previous Public Health and/or Acute Care experience is an asset;
  • Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset;
  • Ability to speak/or understand Cree is a definite asset;
  • Ability to work as a team member;
  • Ability to travel to Outlying communities;
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
  • Excellent problem solving & organizational skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal & public relations skills;
  • Proficient computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office;
  • Must be able to work independently and be self-directed;
