- Ensure quality and compliance. You will maintain sample integrity by collecting, evaluating, and managing retain samples, including pallet preparation, documentation, and electronic logging. You will collect, prepare, document, and submit microbiological samples to external laboratories according to established schedules and protocols. You will also support food safety verification programs through ATP, allergen, environmental, and water sample collection.
- Verify materials and production standards. You will evaluate, test, and release raw materials to confirm compliance with food safety and quality specifications prior to use. You will verify and document critical processing parameters across batching, filling, and post-pasteurization systems by reviewing displays, chart recorders, work instructions, and retention times, and signing off on approved processing parameter check sheets.
- Perform product testing and verification. You will conduct in-process and finished product testing to support timely product release, including Vitamin C, malic acid and %TA titration and adjustments; Brix, pH, viscosity, Bostwick, USDA flow; texture analysis; water activity; spread and bake testing; density determination; inversion; torque, compression, and tensile testing; and sensory evaluations. You will also verify packaging and labeling accuracy through weight checks, package integrity checks, metal detector validation, and product coding verification.
- Maintain sanitation and food safety systems. You will support sanitation and allergen control programs by maintaining SSOP boards and executing post-sanitation validations, including allergen swabbing (Neogen). You will monitor production areas to ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Support documentation and compliance. You will complete and maintain required quality and food safety records, including sanitation logs, calibration records, glass and brittle plastic audits, light intensity checks, water/air/steam monitoring, and NC hold documentation.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues. You will initiate, investigate, and document non-conformances (NCRs), communicate findings to QA leadership, and support root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support customer and internal quality requests. You will prepare and release Certificates of Analysis (COAs), collect samples for Sales, Product Development, and external partners, and inspect and release NC holds.
- Maintain operational communication. You will support effective shift-to-shift communication by sharing critical quality and production information to maintain continuity and alignment across teams.
- The qualifications. You have a bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field, or equivalent experience in a relevant food science role. You bring practical quality assurance experience, ideally within a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. You are comfortable alternating between the lab and production floor.
- The knowledge. You can read, interpret, and apply scientific standards, measurements, processes, and results. You understand basic addition and subtraction, and you can accurately measure and interpret temperature and weight data. You are familiar with quality control, lab testing, sensory testing, and manufacturing processes, particularly in food production environments.

You identify opportunities for process improvement and work collaboratively with production teams to implement solutions.
