- Lead site-specific safety orientations and ensure all personnel are trained on hospital-specific HSE protocols.
- Conduct regular job site inspections and hazard assessments to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Monitor employees and subcontractors for compliance with health and safety policies, escalating issues as needed.
- Act as a first aid attendant and coordinate emergency response efforts on-site.
- Organize and deliver training programs on WHMIS, Fall Protection, PPE, CPR/First Aid, Emergency Response, and more.
- Participate in and support incident investigations, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
- Review and enforce subcontractor safety submittals and ensure alignment with OH&S regulations and healthcare facility standards.
- Compile and analyze safety statistics to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Attend client meetings to provide updates on safety performance and initiatives.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of the project’s HSE Plan, HSEOPs, and emergency response protocols.
- Promote a 'safety-first' culture across all levels of the project team and stakeholders.
- 5–10 years of direct HSE experience in construction, preferably in institutional or commercial projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Safety certifications such as NCSO, CRSP, CHST, or Construction Safety Officer (CSO).
- Occupational First Aid Level 2 with Transportation Endorsement.
- Strong knowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation in British Columbia.
- Experience with COR auditing, ISO standards, and subcontractor management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with cranes and hoisting operations is an asset.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to influence and educate teams on safety best practices and compliance.
