We are looking for a Litigation Associate to join our clients team in Toronto, Ontario. In this role, you will handle diverse legal matters related to municipal insurance defence and public sector liability claims. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex cases and contribute to the effective representation of public authorities.Responsibilities:
  • Represent clients in municipal insurance defence cases, ensuring thorough preparation and effective advocacy.
  • Manage litigation files, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategies and provide accurate advice to clients.
  • Collaborate with senior lawyers on high-profile defence claims involving provincial liability.
  • Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations as required.
  • Analyze evidence and develop case strategies tailored to client needs and legal standards.
  • Maintain communication with clients, providing updates and addressing their concerns promptly.
  • Work with external experts and witnesses to strengthen case arguments.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards throughout the litigation process.
  • Licensed to practice law in Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance defence law and public sector liability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting legal documents and interacting with clients.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple files and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid legal research and analytical skills to support case development.
  • Experience in attending court proceedings, mediations, and negotiations is an asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality legal services and achieving client satisfaction.
