- Represent clients in municipal insurance defence cases, ensuring thorough preparation and effective advocacy.
- Manage litigation files, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
- Conduct legal research to support case strategies and provide accurate advice to clients.
- Collaborate with senior lawyers on high-profile defence claims involving provincial liability.
- Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations as required.
- Analyze evidence and develop case strategies tailored to client needs and legal standards.
- Maintain communication with clients, providing updates and addressing their concerns promptly.
- Work with external experts and witnesses to strengthen case arguments.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards throughout the litigation process.
- Licensed to practice law in Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Strong knowledge of insurance defence law and public sector liability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting legal documents and interacting with clients.
- Proven ability to manage multiple files and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid legal research and analytical skills to support case development.
- Experience in attending court proceedings, mediations, and negotiations is an asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality legal services and achieving client satisfaction.
