- Provide quality assurance and manufacturing expertise to cross functional team to develop Own Brand products from concept to shelf
- Support new Supplier sourcing and provide recommendations based on Audit, Risk assessment and / or site visits
- Supplier and product management for existing suppliers and products
- Assess Supplier Food Safety certifications and product qualifications
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure all products are delivered with pace and on strategy – team includes Product Development, Brand Management, Analyst, Regulatory Affairs, Food Safety
- Ensure all products meet Food Safety requirements and set Quality targets
- Review packaging and artwork for Quality / Safety requirements
- Conduct complaint/inquiries investigations with supplier partners - for corrective and preventive actions and formalize response to Sobeys Customer Care team utilizing applicable information sources (academia, industry, specifications, Supplier partners), and maintain service level
- Provide technical support to Sobeys Customer Care with respect to Own Brand product complaints and inquiries
- Monitor, evaluate and trend customer complaints data, investigate and report findings to all stakeholders
- Facilitate CFIA Food safety investigations, co-pilot incident management, recall and corrective action process for all Own Brands products
- Manage and assist of the execution of the recall system after hours and on weekends as required and pertaining to Own Brand products
- Manage risk assessment of Own Brand Supplier sites in person or via remote tools
- Facilitate root cause analysis in event of product withdrawal/recall Support QA team to improve processes and organizational goals
- Continuous quality improvement through monitoring performance of existing Own Brand products in market and actioning with suppliers as necessary
- Advocate for Own Brands across all areas of the business
- Bachelor of Science and / or Food Science degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Experience in manufacturing of food and / or non-food products
- Knowledge of various GFSI recognized schemes for manufacturing and HACCP
- Knowledge and application of Risk Assessments
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including regulatory affairs, procurement, brand management, product development, food safety, customer care, category management and purchasing
- Non-food quality assurance experience is an asset
