- Perform and oversee field testing and inspection activities:
- Soil compaction testing, subgrade evaluation, and proof rolling
- Concrete testing (slump, air, temperature, cylinders) in accordance with CSA standards
- Aggregate and earthworks inspection and compliance verification
- Ensure compliance with:
- CSA standards (e.g., CSA A23.1, A23.2)
- Project specifications and contract documents
- Provincial and municipal requirements
- Coordinate with contractors, project teams, and client representatives to align inspection activities with construction sequencing
- Review and validate field and laboratory data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Identify and document non-conformance conditions and provide recommendations within scope
- Support implementation of Quality Management Plans (QMP) and project-specific QA/QC programs
- Mentor and supervise junior technicians and inspectors
- Contribute to effective communication between Owner, Contractor, and Engineering teams
- A minimum of 8 years' experience in the construction industry
- Multi-discipline CCIL certifications
- C.E.T. or P.Tech. designation
- Leads inspection programs and mentors staff
- Experience working on large-scale or mission-critical projects (e.g., data centers, infrastructure)
- Familiarity with Alberta regulatory environment and working under Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Use a company provided laptop or tablet computer and a working knowledge of MS Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A good work ethic and high level of personal integrity.
- Ability to monitor contractors and report results verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in preparing clear and accurate detailed reports of testing and inspection activities and maintaining work activity records.
- Attention to detail, quality, and safety.
- Authorization to work in Canada.
- Bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds (22.68 kg) repetitively and over 50 pounds (22.68 kg) using handling equipment (hand truck, etc.).
- Operate equipment as necessary (i.e., ultrasonic nondestructive testing machine, concrete cylinder press, etc.).
- Maintain safe mobility over construction obstacles by foot and ladder, traversing over rough broken ground and steep surfaces.
- Work outside in variable weather at field sites and in labs with various levels of safety protection required.
