Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.Position Overview:A Research Assistant will work with Dr. Stephanie Bugden and her collaborators to assist with research studies investigating the development of basic numeracy skills.Duties:
  • Working closely with students to perform the following tasks: data collection, data entry, analyses, and interpretation of the results.
  • Prepare literature reviews, results, and materials for publication.
  • Assist with preparing the materials for data collection such as developing stimuli and programming tasks
  • Perform routine clerical and administrative duties to support research activities.
  • Help prepare research posters, slides for talks, and other materials to disseminate research findings.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in Psychology or be a senior student enrolled in the PSYC 4040 Honour’s thesis class from the University of Winnipeg.
  • Completion of PSYC-4100 Research Design and Data Analysis (or equivalent) with a minimum grade of B.
  • Completion of PSYCH-4910 Special Topics in Cognitive Psychology and PSYCH-3920 Cognitive Neuroscience is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Excellent organization and teamwork skills.
Condition(s) of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
