Job overviewOur client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to oversee the design, review, and execution support of expansion and maintenance capital projects while ensuring regulatory compliance, operational reliability, and delivery within budget and schedule.Must Have skills
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering design and commissioning experience in the oil and gas industry
  • BachelorÂ’s degree in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college
  • Professional Engineer designation
  • Strong experience leading design reviews and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, applicable codes, and engineering standards
  • Proven ability to manage engineering service providers, technical deliverables, and project coordination across multiple phases
  • Strong planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills
Nice to Have skills
  • Extensive project management experience
  • Field experience supporting capital or facility projects
  • Experience with material specification, technical bid evaluations, and procurement support
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the design of expansion and maintenance capital projects executed by external engineering service providers
  • Own and manage relationships and contracts with engineering service providers
  • Lead design reviews with internal and external stakeholders to ensure regulatory, code, and company specification compliance
  • Ensure design solutions consider hazard operability, constructability, and operational reliability requirements
  • Review vendor quotations, support technical bid evaluations, and recommend materials based on technical merit, price, and delivery
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to support material procurement using internal tools
  • Provide planning and scheduling support for design and procurement phases
  • Provide technical support throughout project development, construction, and commissioning
  • Manage engineering firms to incorporate red-line markups into final as-built drawings
  • Support development of project scope, schedule, capital cost estimates, execution plans, and risk assessments during project development
  • Support Operations with incident investigations following project handover
  • Review lessons learned from past projects and incorporate improvements into future designs
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support peers and senior staff on departmental initiatives and compliance matters
