Because why not do it all?Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / 5-Axis Technician to program, set up, and operate advanced multi-axis machining equipment for high-precision prototype and low-volume production components.This role is ideal for a machinist who enjoys complex programming, tooling strategy, problem-solving, and hands-on craftsmanship. You will collaborate directly with engineering and toolroom leadership and have the opportunity to influence machining strategy across new projects.This is not a machine-tending role-it's a high-skill, creative technical position.Key Responsabilities
  • Program complex 3+2 and full 5-axis toolpaths using Mastercam (or equivalent CAM).
  • Set up, prove out, and optimize programs on both new 5-axis machines.
  • Perform precision machining of prototype and production components.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on scheduling, manufacturability, and tooling strategy.
  • Coordinate external processes when required (heat treat, coatings, secondary ops).
  • Support continuous improvements in machining methods, workholding design, and throughput.
  • Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas to a high standard.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a recognized Ontario Machinist or Tool & Die apprenticeship OR equivalent experience.
  • C of Q (429A or 430A) preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of CNC machining experience, including multi-axis milling.
  • Hands-on experience with Fanuc-controlled equipment, including Matsuura or similar.
  • Experience using Renishaw or Blum probing systems.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, precision metrology, cutting tools, and workholding.
  • Experience in prototype, R&D, aerospace, motorsports, mold/toolroom, or advanced manufacturing environments is an asset.
Required Skills
  • Expert ability to program and optimize complex 5-axis toolpaths.
  • Strong capability in designing or validating custom workholding solutions.
  • Proficient with CNC setup, troubleshooting, offsets, probing, and first-article inspections.
  • Ability to interpret complex drawings and solid models.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to support and mentor team members when required.
Work Environment
  • Advanced, clean, climate-controlled toolroom environment.
  • Hands-on work around precision machinery, tooling, and coolant systems.
  • PPE required (safety footwear, glasses, hearing protection).
