
Sub Arc Welding Operator

- Carries out mild and/or stainless-steel welding requirements for jobs, observing specific guidelines and procedures for welding
- Operates and sets up production welding equipment inclusive of cutting, gouging, and grinding materials
- Reads and interprets blueprints or welding process specifications
- Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), resistance welding, and submerged arc welding (SAW)
- Operates manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
- Removes metal and/or prepares materials for welding by gouging and grinding
- Ensures all welding equipment is clean and functional
- Assists with the maintenance and repair of welding equipment
- Adjusts welding heads and tooling according to work specifications
- ABSA Machine operator certificate
- Grade C Pressure Welder Certificate of Competency
- Valid Performance Qualification issued by the jurisdiction
- 2+ years of directly related work experience
- This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices
