As a key member of the team, you will be instrumental in implementing and coordinating integrated marketing and communications plans, directly supporting a wide range of corporate, department and branch initiatives.The Communications Coordinator works closely with the Research, Engagement and Communications (REC) team to provide essential marketing and communications services for the Integrated Infrastructure Services (IIS) department. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing various elements of communications plans, from drafting news releases and web content to supporting social media and media relations activities. You will also assist in developing these plans and support outreach activities with internal and external business partners.What will you do?Assist with the implementation of integrated marketing communications elements and plans, including coordinating messaging for media and supporting senior staff with campaigns, events and publicationsDraft and develop a variety of written content, such as news releases, web and digital content, newsletters and key messagesCoordinate and implement communications and public outreach events, and liaise with third-party vendors and partnersProvide support to external consultants and internal web and social media teams by developing social media posts and coordinating content for digital platformsGather technical information from clients and translate it into simple and effective marketing and communications productsQualificationsGraduation from a two-year college, accredited post-secondary institute, or technical institute program with coursework in marketing, journalism, communications or public relationsA minimum of two years of experience in a public relations, public affairs or public information roleAssets:Experience in developing marketing communications materialsExperience with public outreach sessions and eventsExperience in coordinating with external vendors such as designers, media buyers and printersSkills required for success:A proven ability to deliver quality marketing communications products and adviceWorking knowledge of communications, marketing, advertising, media, social media, event planning and print productionStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and competing deadlinesAbility to establish effective working relationships with staff at all levels and external client groupsAlignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( )Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusionConditions of Employment:Applicant may be testedThe City of Edmonton values applicants with a diverse range of skills, experiences and competencies, and encourages you to apply.
