- Three to five years recent critical care nursing experience required.
- Two years previous teaching experience preferred.
- Experience in curriculum development/evaluation preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.
- Master's degree in Nursing or Education preferred.
- Post-basic program in Intensive Care nursing required.
- Health Care Provider registration required. CPR Instructor Level an asset.
- Provider Level ACLS registration required.
- Advanced preparation in Adult Education preferred.
- Instructor level ACLS preferred.
- CNA certification in critical care an asset.
- Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the professional body to which they are registered.
- College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice.
- Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.
- Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses Standards of Practice.
- Scope of practice as documented in the Registered Nurses Act.
- Regional/Facility/unit policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
- Nursing care knowledge related to critical care clinical area.
- Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices and other legislated acts.
- Roles and responsibilities of members of the health care team.
- Principles of delegation.
- Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of common software.
- A comprehensive knowledge of adult education, the research process, program development and evaluation and health care theory and practice.
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or a group of patients.
- Ability to delegate care appropriately and monitor outcomes of delegated care.
