- Administers and processes hourly payroll, ensures payroll software meets the required levels of quality and service in operational delivery; makes recommendations to management for improvements.
- Administers and maintains ADP electronic timekeeping system; trains supervisory personnel as required.
- Assists in the preparation of year-end data for T4 processing.
- Manages records of performance appraisal date.
- Monitors and coordinates Weekly Indemnity, Long Term Disability, and Workers’ Compensation claims; liaises with employees and benefits provider.
- Initiates Ease-back meetings for employees returning to work.
- Responds to employee inquiries on payroll and benefits and provides internal employee support.
- Prepares monthly management and government reports, tracks HR budget data for annual reporting.
- Conducts orientation sessions with hourly-paid employees on payroll, benefits, pension, and company programs.
- Processes departmental scorecard reporting information.
- Assists in the full cycle of the recruiting and hiring process, scheduling and conducting interviews, and checking references.
- Assists training & development initiatives and supports compensation and benefits programs.
- Assists in maintaining HR policies and Job descriptions and maintains employee files and records electronically and in paper form.
- Provides back-up and support to HR staff as required.
- Must have a proven commitment to maintaining strict standards of confidentiality
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel software programs
- Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must have strong time-management and organizational skills; able to multi-task effectively
- Must have a demonstrated strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy;
- Must be able to work independently and take initiative
- Must be confident and comfortable interacting with all levels of management and employees
- 3 years’ experience as HR Generalist or similar roles.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree.
- Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Aptitude in problem-solving
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel software programs
- Good knowledge of employment/labor laws
- Outstanding knowledge of ADP Workforce now.
- Additional HR certification.
