- Collect essential field data including tree species, size, condition, and site characteristics to inform management decisions
- Coordinate and monitor tree work such as planting, stump grinding, removals, and hydrovac performed by internal teams or contractors
- Ensure all contractor activities adhere to safety standards and City specifications
- Support ground disturbance preparation and execution for tree planting and related activities
- Respond to 311 notifications, providing timely updates and clear messaging to residents regarding tree-related concerns
- Update and maintain accurate records within GIS and SAP systems to track the progress of tree-related activities
- Completion of a Diploma in Forestry or a related field
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the landscaping industry
- ISA Certified Arborist designation
- Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)
- Project Management training
- Specific experience in tree pruning, removals, or construction site coordination
- Working knowledge of arboriculture techniques and practices
- Proven experience with computer programs, including Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs) and GIS software
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with seasonal pressures
- Excellent oral and written skills to express decisions clearly to community partners and collaborators
- Ability to work independently on challenging construction sites and resolve tree conflicts using creative solutions
- Strong tree identification skills and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations
- Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies (
- Requirement to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to the respirator fit testing policy during poor air quality events
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
- Applicants may be tested
- This position involves significant outdoor field work in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation
- The role requires physical activity such as standing, walking, and kneeling, as well as the ability to lift up to 10 lbs
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement
