
Production Utility Worker

- Actively supports and promotes the Plant 5S initiative.
- Wears required PPE (eye, ear, head, respiratory, and foot protection).
- Reports all accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
- Identifies and reports unsafe conditions or procedures.
- Completes field hazard assessments and safety checks as required.
- Maintains current certifications (e.g., forklift, bobcat, man lift, propane filling).
- Completes all safety training and documentation (e.g., Lock/Tag/Try, WHMIS, SJPs).
- Submits at least one quality safety observation per month.
- Performs minor repairs to equipment, roadways, and structures.
- Conducts weekly PMs on general equipment (e.g., dust helmets, vacuums, water fountains, blowing down machines, pressure washing,)
- Observes and reports equipment malfunctions.
- Assists with maintenance tasks (e.g., chain replacement, melter rebuilds, brick saw operation).
- Operates material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, bobcat, man lift).
- Uses power tools (e.g., wire brushes, needle scalers, air spades).
- Uses sandblaster to clean fans & maintenance rollers
- Cleans floors, machinery, equipment, and work areas.
- Performs cleanouts during rebuilds and shutdowns.
- Maintains cleanliness of plant areas including cullet tanks, trenches, and dust collectors.
- Handles hazardous waste sorting and recycling (e.g., batteries, aerosol cans).
- Maintains 5S boards and supports visual management initiatives.
- Uses basic computer skills for data entry, email, and reporting.
- Maintains accurate records and logs.
- Orders and organizes tools and materials for rebuilds.
- Ensures proper coding of project work.
- Maintains first aid kits and eye wash stations.
- Trains and supports new or inexperienced workers.
- Acts as a backup as a fire watch, possibility as batch plant operator.
- Collaborates with other departments during cleanouts and emergencies.
- Takes on additional duties as needed (e.g., millwright helper, warehouse support).
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (standing, lifting, repetitive motion).
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to protocols.
- Effective communication skills (verbal, written, digital).
- Willingness to work in a team environment and take initiative.
- Flexibility to perform a wide range of duties across departments.
