- Identify, monitor and assess wildlife presence and safety risks during outdoor operations
- Deter wildlife interactions using approved non-lethal deterrents (bear bangers, air horns, rubber bullets) to prevent dangerous interactions
- Ensure compliance and strict adherence to Nasittuqโs safety and environmental protection protocols
- Communicate effectively with diverse team members about wildlife-related observations and safety measures
- Handle wildlife encounters and coordinate with wildlife officials when required
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Minimum 2 years in a similar role (e.g. hunter, guide, camp safety officer)
- Valid Possession Acquisition License (PAL)
- Grade 12 or a combination of education, training and experience
- Basic Wildlife Monitor or Wildlife Safety Technician Certification
- Wilderness First Aid CPR + AED Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Knowledgeable of Northern Regions of Canada and wildlife behaviours (polar bears, wolves, wolverines) and wildlife hazard protocols
- Demonstrated breadth of experience across multiple monitoring seasons, environments and projects
- Competent with use of deterrents and other non-lethal methods such as bear bangers, air horns, rubber bullets
- Ability to obtain and maintain Reliability Security Clearance
- Comfortable traveling by helicopter and small aircraft
- Physically fit for Arctic terrain and conditions
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including Fall Arrest Harness
- Strict adherence to all safety policies, participation in required training, adherence to cold-weather/remote-site procedures and prompt reporting of hazards or incidents is a condition of employment
