- Ability to integrate and apply BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards for Nursing Practice.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the current theories, technologies and practices in the specialty area.
- Demonstrated knowledge of child/adult education principles.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
- Ability to work independently in an ambulatory clinic environment.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and evaluate patient care needs to ensure patient demands are met.
- Ability to assess learning needs of people throughout the life cycle.
- Ability to teach using child/adult education principles.
- Ability to apply the principles of adult learning in individual and group settings.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and their families and with colleagues, both on a one-to-one basis and within an interdisciplinary team/group context.
- Ability to be empathetic and to relate well with people from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural environments.
- Demonstrate sound organizational, problem solving, and teaching skills.
