- Manage a variety of litigation files, including family law and civil cases, with a focus on providing thorough and strategic representation.
- Handle creditor-debtor files independently, from initiating claims in Small Claims Court and the Supreme Court of BC to enforcing judgments through garnishment and other post-judgment remedies.
- Represent clients in chambers applications, including quasi-criminal matters, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and prepare comprehensive case strategies to support client objectives.
- Attend trials and hearings in the Supreme Court of BC, demonstrating confidence and expertise in courtroom proceedings.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless case management and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Maintain strong client relationships by providing clear communication and timely updates on case progress.
- Uphold ethical standards and comply with all legal and regulatory requirements in every aspect of your work.
- Participate in ongoing skills development to stay updated on changes in legislation and legal practices.
- Hold a law degree and be a member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
- Have a minimum of three years of experience in civil litigation and/or family law, with trial experience in the Supreme Court of BC.
- Demonstrate expertise in creditor-debtor remedies, including garnishment and other enforcement methods.
- Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong analytical and research abilities.
- Exhibit excellent file management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Show a collaborative mindset and the ability to work well within a team while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
