- Plan, direct, and coordinate the manufacturing of products to deliver on-target results for key performance metrics.
- Support your team to ensure daily and weekly production targets achieved; be hands-on when required.
- Promote environmental, health, and safety philosophies and processes that reduce workplace injuries and environmental impact.
- Manage employee performance to develop a strong and effective team.
- Drive a daily operating focus that maximizes the effectiveness of the facility and promotes collaborative problem solving on the team level.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent recurrence of operational issues.
- Champion the use of data and KPIs to drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Foster leadership development across all levels of the operations team.
- Lead the quality team to exceed customer expectations and timely follow up on quality matters to deliver top performing quality metrics.
- Oversee production planning to optimize the production schedule as required.
- Support frontline supervisors by developing and following up on action plans, investigating solutions and advising on decision-making.
- Advance a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, leading, and sustaining initiatives in lean manufacturing, waste reduction, and process optimization.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the key business partners outside of Production.
- Lead initiatives for employee involvement and engagement. Provide visible leadership on the plant floor.
- Drive superior customer service (on-time delivery and responsiveness).
- Promote and drive compliance to all standard operating procedures.
- Other projects or duties as assigned by management.
- Participate in creating a safe and harmonious working environment.
- Assure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations, AADG programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct
- Post secondary degree in a related field such as manufacturing engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing supervision or management level role with a demonstrated track record of leading people.
- Experience in LEAN Manufacturing techniques and Process Improvement
- Previous experience in a union environment.
- Previous experience with workforce planning and production scheduling.
- Experience with metal forming, related fields, or door components is an asset.
- Exceptional leadership presence and decision-making skills to motivate, influence, and train people.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Able to interact with a variety of company functions and a diverse group of personalities.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to interact well with customers.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high growth industry; willing to be hands-on and take initiative.
- Proficient in MS Office suite, ERP software and reporting tools.
