- Regularly evaluate new technologies and services to enhance our data platform's processing, management, and delivery capabilities, adapting it to meet evolving product and business requirements.
- Build and nurture relationships with data and other engineering leaders to ensure alignment on large-scale projects and identify opportunities for improvement, proactively communicating challenges and roadblocks.
- To champion team member growth, coach team members to improve, share resources, and lead by example to drive continuous learning across a wide range of technical and soft skills.
- Through your proficiency in data engineering practices, assist the team in technical delivery and review completed work.
- Maintain the data platform, monitoring its performance and reporting on team metrics to ensure data availability and quality
- Proven experience in a data engineering role, with a minimum of 1-2 years in a leadership capacity and comfortable using both Python and PySpark
- A capable contributor and technical leader, with the ability to communicate effectively, and lead your team in the execution and delivery of impactful projects.
- Efficient and accurate programming skills, with notable proficiency in SQL, showcasing a deep understanding of relevant APIs and tools.
- Comfortable working in a player-coach model and able to tackle technical tasks in support of team goals and objectives.
- Collaborative mindset, fostering partnerships with cross-functional teams to solve problems and refine solutions.
- You thrive on seeing your team members grow, develop and achieve their goals.
- Not afraid to stretch yourself outside of your comfort zone to take on new challenges, and have a love for continuous learning.
- Experience working with data at scale using Pyspark
- AWS/Databricks experience
- Agile workflow or Kanban experience
- Experience in the educational software space or free-to-play games
- Platform: AWS, Airflow, Databricks, DBT, Snowflake
- Languages: Python, PySpark, Go
- Other: Terraform, Kubernetes, Fivetran
