- Engage and advise staff from technology control functions and the business to establish a robust control framework around the lifecycle of the electronic trading process; Development, UAT, and Production.
- Keep abreast of regulatory changes and guidance in relation to Algorithmic Trading.
- Assist in the development, and ongoing measurement of, Key Risk Indicators across all asset classes and regions.
- Participate in any regulatory examinations directly or indirectly involving RBC's electronic and algorithmic trading, including the annual MiFID II self-assessment.
- Support the development and communication of risk reports.
- Perform critical assessment and challenge during development, implementation, and material changes to algorithms and trading systems.
- Work closely with the 1st Line of Defence teams to ensure global control frameworks are operating effectively.
- Support the wider A&O team with operational risk programmes involving electronic trading risk.
- Offer oversight to other resources, with a focus on regional electronic trading risk oversight.
- Build relationships with business and functional partners to provide accurate and insightful oversight as the bank continuously expands its Global Execution platforms.
- University degree, or equivalent
- Excellent understanding of financial markets, preferably across multiple asset classes, and electronic trading systems and techniques.
- Familiarity with electronic trading regulations in one or more major jurisdiction
- 5 years in the financial services or other regulated industries
- Experience of delivering presentations to executive audiences.
- Highly engaging and collaborative; flexible, adaptable, a great communicator who can quickly form and establish meaningful partnerships and coalitions
- Good communication skills with the ability to interact with technology, business, and risk management staff across levels of seniority.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, etc.
- Familiarity with IT development lifecycle and methodologies
- Familiarity with IT Risk Frameworks (NIST, CoBIT, etc.)
