QC Process Specialist/ Lab Technician

- Performs pulp physical testing
- Prepares chemicals for mill control tests
- Calibration and maintenance of testing equipment
- Collection/analysis of chemicals and samples from various stages of production
- Troubleshooting upset conditions and developing corrective actions for the impact on quality
- Analyzes historical data for diagnoses of quality excursions
- Supports the QA department in maintaining QMS certifications
- Tabulates and reports analytical data in a clear and concise manner
- Trains and evaluates operators on test methods as required
- Maintains laboratory working areas in a clean and tidy condition
- Follows departmental and mill safety rules
- Assists and relieves other technicians as required
- Assists Process Engineers on process projects
- Provides coverage for Technologist as required
- Provides coverage for mill shipping duties
- Advises supervisor when unusual conditions are noted
- Organization and execution of projects
- Assist with WHMIS Program
- Technical certificate or post-secondary science degree
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
- High commitment to safety
- Strong communication skills including technical or procedural writing
- A valid driver’s license
- Available to occasionally work evenings and weekends when required
- Mill and/or heavy industry experience
- Operational experience
- Training in chemistry and science
- Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Knowledge of the kraft pulp mill process
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO)

- The salary range for this position is usually between $67,392-$77,500 depending on skills and experience
