Some of our customers operate in remote locations, so periodic travel may be required.ResponsibilitiesThe Electrical Estimator is key to the Electrical Solutions team and will be responsible for reviewing, estimating, and preparing electrical quotes and proposals, and identifying ways to continually improve cost estimating procedures. Duties include but are not limited to:Review and interpret tender specifications and drawings to define scope/contents of the estimatesReview and analyze bid packages from subcontractorsProduce all costs for tender submission – material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor(s) using estimating software to develop accurate quotationAccountable for analyzing each section for scope, pricing and clarificationsMaintain large working files as supporting documentation for estimating figures including current, accurate information on prices from venders through exclusive contact, pre-existing price lists, etc.Develop innovative ideas to maximize cost savings and increase competitivenessProactively manage and incorporate scope changesAssists with pre-qualifications, RFQ’s, RFI submissions as requiredAttend site visits periodicallyParticipate in closing the bid, including bid meetings, etc.RequirementsQualificationsIf you are the ideal candidate, you are a highly detail-oriented individual who demonstrates outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills. The following are requirements needed to be successful in this role:Completion of postsecondary electrician training programValid electricians licenseMinimum 3 years of relevant industrial electrical estimating experienceIn-depth understanding of the BC Electrical Safety CodeStrong computer skills with estimation software, experience with Accubid is an assetStrong written and verbal communication skillsExceptional analytical and problem-solving skillsTypes of Projects You’ll EstimateWhile the company does execute large-scale installation projects, particularly in bulk material handling, the majority of estimates focus on advanced automation and retrofit solutions, including:Supply and install projects involving Radar, LiDAR, vision systems, and process control technologiesGreenfield and brownfield VFD, MCC, and motor control retrofitsControl system upgrades and retrofits of obsolete equipmentProjects requiring short turnaround times to minimize client downtimeManaging multiple proposals efficiently while supporting customer uptime and operational continuity is a critical aspect of this role.
