The Analytics and Data Services (ADS) team, part of Elsevier’s Academic Leaders & Funder group, delivers data, analytical, and consultancy solutions (products and services) to research-performing and funding organizations in academia and government.About the Role
As Senior Commercial Strategy Analyst, you will execute the ADS commercial strategy for the Americas, driving revenue growth through data-driven solutions. You will lead the go-to-market plan, identify new business opportunities, and expand our presence in existing and emerging market segments. This role requires developing new offerings based on our data science capabilities and managing complex projects across multiple departments and customers. The role has a strong analytical and technical component.Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing a best-in-class go-to-market strategy and operating model, showcasing ADS’s data science and technical capabilities.
- Generating new leads, develop technical proposals—including preparing data, analyses, and visuals to showcase our capabilities—and drive sustainable revenue growth.
- Analyzing commercial and market data to generate insights that optimize sales and contractual processes.
- Collaborating internally as well as with Product, Data Platform, Sales, Marketing, and Research Network teams to ensure effective execution and commercial success.
- Engaging with current and prospective customers (primarily leaders in academic, funding, and government organizations) to understand their needs and deliver innovative solutions leveraging Elsevier’s data and analytics.
- Enhancing customer engagement and demonstrating the value created through our solutions.
- Leveraging your knowledge of R&I ecosystems as well as your data science expertise to innovate, develop new data sources and indicators, and create a unique value proposition, In partnership with the Head of ADS Americas and the broader ADS team.
- Managing complex opportunities and projects involving cross-departmental teams in a matrix organization.
- Display exceptional commercial mindset with a customer-focused approach; able to translate client needs into monetizable solutions.
- Have technical proficiency in developing data-driven solutions, with experience in engineering data at scale and applying big data technologies.
- Have a background in bibliometrics, research evaluation, or study design is preferred; alternatively, deep knowledge of research and innovation (R&I) ecosystems and a strong interest in bibliometrics, research evaluation, or STI policy.
- Display excellent analytical, visualization, and problem-solving skills; able to extract actionable insights from complex data.
- Are an effective communicator with proven ability to influence. This includes (internal/external) executive stakeholders and drive go-to-market activities.
- Collaborative team player, authentic and humble, able to work effectively in a matrix organization.
