- Bring new appliances to market from conceptual design to finished product, on time and on budget.
- Set up and execute combustion tests on gas-fired appliances, which includes tuning burners, configuring gas valves, and utilizing emissions analyzers to log CO2, CO, and NOx data.
- Physically wire prototype control panels, integrate electromechanical components, and safely perform live troubleshooting on energized circuits during lab testing.
- Conduct R&D and laboratory testing for safety standards certification (UL, CSA, ASME, AHR, etc.) and jurisdictions compliance.
- Schedule individual projects, make adjustments as needed to ensure project completion in the projected time frame.
- Provide engineering support to existing products.
- Provide engineering support to production.
- Provide technical support to the CAD department.
- Stay abreast on industry trends, government regulations, new technologies and engineered components.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 2 to 4 years of Product/Mechanical Engineering experience with a manufacturer of engineered appliances.
- Must have hands on experience; ability to use tools and engineering instruments.
- Strong aptitude for and comfort level with reading electrical wiring diagrams, troubleshooting basic circuits, and working safely with electricity.
- Good understanding of manufacturing (fabrication, machining and assembly) processes.
- Technical knowledge and ability to utilize variety of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, etc.
- Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks and projects and work within a multi-disciplinary engineering team with minimum supervision.
- Experience in the heat transfer industry, residential/commercial HVAC equipment, or gas-fired hot water appliances is a strong asset. However, we highly encourage adaptable candidates with strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to work independently, from other manufacturing or R&D backgrounds to apply, as we are willing to mentor the right individual.
- Knowledge of components such as heat exchangers, boilers, water heaters, fans, pumps and controls.
- Experience with industry standards such as CSA, UL, ASME, AHRI, etc.
- Experience with ASME boiler and pressure vessel design is a strong asset.
- Experience with Combustion systems.
- Experience with electrical engineering, electric circuits, electromechanical components as well as instrumentation and controls.
- Experience with Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
