We honor diversity and inclusivity and are proud to offer a safe work environment that fosters growth, teamwork and fulfillment.We are looking for a Recreation Manager to join our friendly team at Braddan Private Hospital in Vancouver, B.C.Reporting to the Director of Care, the Recreation Manager is expected to develop, implement, and evaluate activity programs to meet the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and cultural interests of residents. Attend quarterly meetings with the Employer and Creation Team. Provide direct Activity Program to the residents in the event of staff shortage.As a Recreation Manager you will:
  • Develops and implements recreation programs for Braddan Private Hospital, which include activities such as outings, parties, exercises, crafts and entertainment.
  • Attends, directs, and documents quarterly family council meetings.
  • Develops a monthly recreation calendar suitable and beneficial for the residents.
  • Develops and documents resident activation plan.
  • Organizes resident activities and trips outside the facility while ensuring that the residents have proper clothing and necessary equipment for the activity, confirms details of the proposed activity with nursing/administration staff, coordinates the movement of residents during the activity and teaches the techniques of the related activity.
  • Develops a monthly recreation calendar.
  • Consults with family and nursing staff in order to determine the activities which meet the resident’s needs.
  • Designs an appropriate variety of recreation programs tailored to resident needs.
  • Monitors and evaluates resident progress through activity programs and reports observations such as emotional wellbeing and social behavior to nursing staff as required.
  • Maintains inventory of equipment, tools and materials and reports malfunctioning equipment and supply needs to the appropriate staff.
  • Coordinates volunteer recruitment and ensures they are appropriately orientated to the facility and sign confidentiality forms.
  • Provides direction to volunteers during activity programs and demonstrates related techniques as required at Braddan Private Hospital.
  • Supervises and directs Activity Aides at Braddan Private Hospital by coordinating work assignments, assisting administration with employee performance appraisals and helping determine related training and orientation requirements.
  • Attends interdisciplinary care conferences.
Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Grade 12 education
  • Graduate from a recognized Recreation Program or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must be a Recreation Therapist
  • Current First Aide certificate
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to organize work
  • Ability to operate related equipment
