- Working both independently as well as with other staff members to provide an efficient and effective radiological service for the public in accordance with the Department’s Policies and Procedures.
- Ensuring the correct and safe usage of all x-ray equipment in accordance with regulations and manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Provide service to all patients with dignity and respect regardless of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, age, type of illness, or mental or physical challenge.
- Perform image analysis as defined by departmental policies and protocols.
- Acquire the knowledge, skill and judgment to perform procedures in the following areas: general radiography, special procedures, gastrics, operating room, endoscopy, trauma room and emergency department.
- Additional modalities may be assigned by the Diagnostic Imaging Manager and may depend on previous experience and skill set. These may include computerized tomography, mammography or bone mineral density.
- Graduate of a recognized Medical Radiation Technologist training program.
- Certified and registered with C.M.R.I.T.O.
- Registration with O.A.M.R.S. is preferred.
- Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification is preferred.
- Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of Radiology techniques in both theory and practice.
- Sound knowledge of all equipment and appropriate skills to operate equipment.
- Strong computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills when dealing with patients, staff members and Physicians.
- Excellent organization skills to perform required duties effectively and in a timely manner.
- The ability to prioritize exams to meet both the needs of the patient as well as the department.
- Knowledge of proper lifting procedures.
- Regular and punctual attendance is mandatory.
