
Senior Community Engagement and Communication Advisor

- Collaborating with the Program Delivery team to create and execute tailored stakeholder management and external communication strategies and support the team in growing stakeholder relationships with area agencies.
- Leading public and stakeholder engagement activities and tactics, including in-person and virtual workshops, advisory committees, community meetings and public open houses;
- Creating and reviewing communication materials including key messages, FAQs, presentations, notices, story boards and discussion guides
- Supervising and directing multiple community ambassadors to maintain a consistent and effective approach across projects;
- Working closely with Program Leads to ensure clear communication and coordination of resource requirements;
- Evaluating the effectiveness of communication and engagement plans and ensuring comprehensive program-level reporting, including preparing management and executive reports; and,
- Providing coaching, mentoring and support for the professional development of staff.
- A degree or professional designation is preferred (such as communication, environmental planning), although proven practical experience is essential
- 6+ years working in a similar role in the public or private sectors
- 15+ years professional writing experience including: plain language, AODA, web-content, internal and external communications
- Strong analytical, planning, organizational, problem solving and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills; this role requires continuous interaction with team leaders, client management and the public
- Experience with government relations, media relations, public relations, stakeholder analysis and facilitation
- Strong knowledge of project coordination/ management concepts and processes
- Membership in or accreditation from IAP2, CPRS, IABC, IAF is an asset
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and remotely if required
- Knowledge of the Canadian regulatory and policy context, Federal and Provincial Impact Assessment processes - including leading practice in communication and engagement and/ or Indigenous engagement and participation
