- Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Company HSE Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts and regulations.
- Position will be responsible for delivering on Dyno Nobel solutions offerings. Technical solutions require project scoping, measurement of KPI’s and execution of recommendations.
- Demonstrate Dyno products and services at current and potential customer sites.
- Knowledge of regional industry and operations to identify new system applications/ opportunities to deliver customer value added proposition.
- Identify opportunities for the Dyno Nobel newest technology.
- Position will be responsible for managing projects and documenting success of design, application, and/or product changes in the field.
- Utilize tools and technology to complete face profiles, borehole deviation measurements, blast geometry measurements, product sampling, safety audits, etc. in support of product application and blast improvement initiatives.
- Conduct blast performance measurements, e.g. digital high-speed video, vibration monitoring, velocity of detonation, dynamic pressure, etc. in support of product application and blast improvement initiatives.
- Conduct post blast assessments, etc. fragmentation measurement, time studies, volumetric measurements, blast reporting & documentation.
- Conduct time studies on personnel and equipment throughout an operation, including drill and blast operations, truck-shovel loading, processing, etc.
- Effectively build and present proposals and reports, internally and externally.
- Bachelor’s degree in mining, Geo-technical, Mineral, and/or Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering preferred.
- Experience in the mining industry and advanced technical knowledge may be substituted for formal degree.
- Minimum 5 years working experience with progressively increasing professional responsibility.
- 5 years’ experience in mining, explosives or related industry
- Some underground mining experience strongly preferred.
- Must be based within region, and within 2 hrs of a major airport.
- General Knowledge and understanding of explosives technology, basic geology, and seismology.
- High level of professionalism and self-direction
- Strong track record of building positive relationships with co-workers or clients.
- Travel (60%) may vary depending on location and nature of work directed.
- Ability to work afterhours and weekend if required.
- Good communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
- Technically skilled with the ability to use new hardware and software programs focused on blasting performance and design.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Experience in using current instrumentation and software prevalent in the industry for advanced blasting design is preferred.
- Must possess a valid passport and be able and willing to work in both Canada and the U.S.
