- With guidance, provide leadership and direction to the EHS Advisors and line management in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS management systems and processes.
- Oversee and develop Employee environment, health and safety orientation and Site-specific environment, health and safety orientation to workers, owners, and clients.
- Mentor supervisors and staff on Aecon Health, Safety and Environmental Manual.
- Ensure that such critical systems to the EHS Management System, such as FMEA, JHA’s, JARR cards, Observations, Inspections, and audits are completed as required on the projects.
- Ensure effective risk mitigation plans are in place such as environmental management, emergency preparedness/response plans, communication plans. are continuously developed, maintained, and implemented properly.
- Oversee, monitor, conduct and facilitate observation and coaching and inspections in the workplace.
- Develop and facilitate EHS presentations to clients.
- Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committees.
- Ensure accidents/incidents are recognized and investigated in a timely manner by providing leadership and direction in all facets of training, reporting, investigation, and analysis.
- Provide measures of loss and risk management improvement through accident/incident trend analysis to support annual performance targets.
- Work with the Environmental representative to ensure environmental risks are identified and addressed in the Environment Management Plan and the plan is executed accordingly.
- Relevant Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience in the Health and Safety field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Health and Safety within the nuclear or construction industry.
- Possession of or work towards a designation such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor and National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is an asset.
- Knowledge of Construction projects with a solid understanding of the Occupation Health and Safety Act (“OHSA”) and other relevant regulations and legislations required.
- Incident Investigation training/experience considered an asset.
- Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
- Current Security clearance at Bruce Power or OPG is an asset.
