LABORATORY TECHNICIAN CO-OP (CHIP TESTING)Activity sector: Pulp and PaperSite: Kamloops, B.C.Wage: $36.11 per hourTerm: May 2026 – September 2026Schedule: Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm or 2pm to 10pm (to be determined when started)YOUR ROLE‑op will support daily chip sampling, testing, and quality monitoring within the site laboratory. This role is ideal for a 2nd year science student (or higher) or a technologist student interested in developing hands‑on experience in analytical testing, data collection, and process quality support.YOUR RESPONSIBILITIESPerform chip sampling, preparation, and standardized chip testing procedures.Conduct routine laboratory analyses and accurately record test results.Support quality monitoring of wood chip characteristics used in the pulping process.Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure testing areas are clean, safe, and organized.Input data into laboratory systems and assist with basic data trend analysis.Collaborate with lab personnel, process engineers, and operations staff as needed.Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe work environment.Assist with other laboratory tasks or small projects as assigned.YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIESStrong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data collection.Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.Self‑motivated, independent, and able to take initiative.Comfortable working in a laboratory and industrial environment.YOUR QUALIFICATIONSRequired:Currently enrolled in post-secondary education → 2nd year or higher in a Science program (Biology, Chemistry, Natural Resource Science, Environmental Science, etc.) OR a Technologist program.Good problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn technical testing procedures.Strong commitment to safety and quality.Eligibility to work in Canada.Access to reliable transportation.Preferred:Previous laboratory experience (academic or work).Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).Interest in pulp & paper, biomass, or industrial processes.WHY WORK AT KRUGER?At Kruger, we believe in giving our employees the space to grow in a dynamic and stimulating environment, to encourage their development, and to enrich their professional lives.
