As part of our Routing & Switching team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of networking, working on cutting-edge technologies and our next-gen platform, SAOS 10X—a custom Linux-based OS engineered for scalability, performance, and innovation.How You Will Contribute:Develop embedded software for SAOS 10X products, collaborating with Product Owners and System Architects to evolve the platform and support new features and technologies.Troubleshoot software and performance issues, conducting root cause analysis alongside Architects, Software, and Hardware Engineers.Work with firmware and low-level software such as Drivers on Linux platforms.Identify and implement software performance improvements, including CPU usage and memory management.Influence software architecture to enhance resiliency, scalability, debuggability, and maintainability.Debug and support large-scale network deployments in real-world environments.Drive enhancements for existing software, develop new drivers, and support new hardware based on Intel x86-64, AMD, and 64-bit ARM (aarch64) processors.The Must Haves:12+ years of experience in software development for networking products.Strong programming skills in C/C++ and scripting languages like Python and Bash.Deep knowledge of Linux OS, including build systems (Make, CMake, Meson/Ninja).Familiarity with YANG/XML, Git, Jira, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins.Proven problem-solving ability and a mindset for building scalable, production-ready software.Experience with container design, specifically Docker and Docker-compose.The Assets:Familiarity with the Yocto project and its fundamentals.Experience working with Intel x86-64, AMD, and ARM architectures.Collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills to work effectively across global teams.Pay Range:CDN: $118k - $188,400.00#LI-JDPay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
