The Senior Electrical Designer is responsible for the following areas:
- Work closely with Automation and Project Managers to develop electrical schematics from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, and specification sheets.
- Assist with project proposals, project kick-offs, design reviews, FATs, and project closeout.
- Thorough understanding of design and implementation of the Canadian Electrical Code for industrial automation control, power, and I/O panels.
- Produce electrical schematics, wiring details, panel enclosure layouts and reports using ePlan ProPanel in accordance with established guidelines and client specifications.
- Preparing the release of drawings for fabrication.
- Conduct site visits/audits to assess existing infrastructure, including switchgear, MCCs, control panels, cable trays, etc., in support of the engineering team.
- Provide support to Automation and Electrical Installation teams with electrical issues.
- Review/approve design drawings and documents as per project deliverables
- Continuous evaluation of the electrical design process to ensure best possible quality of design with lowest possible cost. i.e., evaluate methods and tools to develop systems that increase quality while reducing design time.
- Develop and build up ePlan as primary software package for electrical design, including:
➢ Working with Production to plan integrations from ePlan to shop floor automation
➢ Mentor and provide training and guidance to Electrical Designers in the use of ePlan
➢ Managing annual licensing for software
- Training, supervision, and provide evaluation feedback of junior designers through the performance review cycle.
- Experience with ePlan software including:
➢ 2-3 years experience with ePlan ProPanel
➢ Proficiency in creating 3D macros and using smart wiring/production features
- AutoCAD Electrical
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- In-depth knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant Design Guidelines & Statutory Requirements
- Knowledge of machine safety Z432-16
- Knowledge of hazardous area classifications
- Basic understanding of the equipment and systems installed in the manufacturing facilities for Food, Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Water and Wastewater
- Microsoft 365 Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
