- Assemble and manage project teams on exciting and challenging projects, with a focus on managing congestion and improving traffic operations on constrained urban corridors
- Serve as Project Manager in a client-facing role, although project management is not the sole focus of this position. Responsible for maintaining a reputation for high quality on all technical deliverables
- Support the growth and development of the team by empowering, inspiring and energizing the team through project experience. Provide career coaching as reporting manager for multiple professional staff. Manage staff productivity and utilization
- Use judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems
- Create a sense of shared ownership and accountability balancing this with decisiveness and holding others to account to deliver projects on time and on budget
- Build client relationships by providing excellent customer service and communications, identifying potential market opportunities, leading the preparation of proposals, networking connections, and other business development activities
- Contribute to client and project success by focusing on improving quality of life and putting sustainability at the core of all you do
- Contribute to Arcadis' reputation through active participation in professional associations and committees. Consistently deliver high quality proposals, presentations, and reports. Lead by example through your own professional development
- Ten (10) or more years of progressive experience including a lead role in traffic engineering as Project Manager or Technical Lead
- Progressive experience in project management and business development including responding to RFPs
- A solid understanding of capacity analysis software (Synchro)
- Experience with meso- and micro-simulation modelling (VISUM, VISSIM, AIMSUN, Vistro)
- Experience with roundabout analysis software (ARCADY or RODEL) considered an asset
- Working knowledge of City of Ottawa guidelines and the application of OTM Book guidance
- Experience in curbside management, parking policy review, signal design or civil design considered an asset
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with a commitment to excellence and high-quality work
- Proven technical writing skills in English with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven ability to communicate difficult concepts and persuade others to adopt a different point of view
- Experience preparing material for and facilitating meetings with technical agencies and the public
- Ability to be flexible and collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team, while maintaining quality work within a fast-paced environment
- Ability to regularly attend client and public meetings in person in the Ottawa Area
