Responsible for training project employees on a variety of Environmental Health and Safety related programs such as Work at Heights, Supervisor Training, First Aid, Elevating Work Platform, Forklift Operation, etc.
Collaborates across the local organization and network to gather expectations, share best practices, and coordinate program requirements
Create an environment conducive to learning for employees
Provide timely feedback to management and supervisors relating to employee competency
Establish measurable goals and levels of competency of each trainee
Provide trainees with timely and relevant feedback, both positive and constructive
Document all training in accordance with established legislative standards and project governance
Promote a safety culture that supports continuous improvement in the EHS management system through active communication, participation and development of skills. Fosters a positive safety culture in which trainees' value safety
What You Bring to the Team:
A working knowledge of Provincial OHS Legislation
Extensive knowledge of BTU trades and work practices
Demonstrated Leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Minimum 5 years of experience in Health and Safety and training/facilitating within the construction industry
Relevant Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience in the Health and Safety field
A designation such as NCSO would be considered an asset
Train the Trainer Qualifications in programs such as Work at Heights, Liftow, Red Cross, etc.
Strong analytical/problem solving skills
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in teams
Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple, concurrent assignments and tasks
Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment
Strong sense of urgency and accountability
Knowledge of project management concepts
Strong decision-making skills
Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
Willingness to contribute toward, and assist colleagues with projects across functional areas and outside of primary responsibilities to contribute toward the overall team's success
