Resolution Staffing Inc. is currently recruiting for a Transformer Technician on behalf of our client in the Colborne area. This is a hands-on role within a shop environment, ideal for both entry-level candidates looking to build a skilled trade and experienced technicians with a background in transformer repair and maintenance.If you have strong mechanical or electrical aptitude and are looking for a long-term opportunity with growth potential, we want to hear from you.Key Responsibilities
- Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and reassemble distribution and power transformers
- Perform or assist with electrical diagnostic testing (TTR, insulation resistance, winding resistance, polarity, etc.)
- Operate oil processing and filtration equipment
- Replace gaskets, bushings, seals, and hardware
- Perform minor tank and flange repairs using hand and power tools
- Conduct pressure testing and diagnose leaks or failures
- Assist with fabrication and welding repairs on damaged components, housings, and tanks
- Safely operate cranes, hoists, and forklifts
- Maintain accurate inspection and repair documentation
- Follow all safety, environmental, and quality control procedures
- Experience in trades, fabrication, maintenance, or assembly (mechanical, automotive, electrical, etc.)
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Willingness to learn transformer systems, testing procedures, and safety protocols
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
- Background in transformer repair, testing, or utility maintenance
- Knowledge of transformer components, design, and repair processes
- Experience with electrical testing instruments
- Familiarity with CSA standards, high-voltage safety, and oil handling procedures
- Leadership or supervisory experience is an asset
- Strong commitment to safety
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- High attention to detail and quality
- Strong organizational skills and pride in workmanship
- Experience operating forklifts or industrial equipment is an asset
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work
- Comfortable working in a shop/industrial environment
- Valid driver’s license
- Forklift or crane certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain)
