Database/GIS Specialist

- Ensure all data collected from drilling, mapping and compilation programs is reviewed and validated before submission to the database;
- Prepare and maintain spatial products such as geological maps, sections and 3D projects/shapes when required (Vulcan, Deswik).
- Assist in developing and maintaining underground and surface mapping protocols.
- Work with the other database and GIS Administrators to ensure the correct adoption of applications at site and database consistency between sites.
- Ensure server/cloud folders are organized and contain current information.
- Conduct routine QA/QC of databases to ensure integrity of data is upheld.
- Research and compile historic and government geoscience information as needed.
- Provide software and data support to site staff.
- Communicate with external laboratories for routine assays and ongoing QAQC work.
- Assist with resource work where needed.
- Other related duties as required.
- Experience in a similar role (4 years+).
- Professional background in geology or a related discipline, with P.Geo designation or ability to register as a professional geoscientist in Ontario.
- Requires knowledge of Mineral Exploration/Mining workflows (field sampling/mapping, core logging, drafting, laboratory analysis, QAQC).
- Must have strong proficiency with ArcGIS software.
- Must have experience working with Acquire, Vulcan and Leapfrog.
- Knowledge of SharePoint, ArcGIS Online, Fusion and Imago are considered assets.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- An ability to communicate and work effectively with other employees and contractors.
- Prior experience in mining and/or mineral exploration is preferred.
