Applicants who thrive in a positive environment where service excellence is top priority are encouraged to apply.JOB SUMMARYAs a Winter Attractions Crew member, you are responsible for the daily operations of the mountain’s winter attractions including; the Ice Rink, Fire Pit, Sliding Zone, Sleigh Ride, Light Walk and other seasonal attractions. Under direct supervision from the Mountain Crew Supervisor and Mountain Operations Duty Manager, the Winter Attractions Crew assist other departments with manual tasks, clean up and tear-down, transport, fences, snow removal and on occasion are expected to assist with line control and other guest related duties.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Operating various machines & vehicles including snow grooming machine, ice surface maintenance vehicle (Zamboni), sleigh and snow removal machines
  • Hand shoveling ice surface, boardwalk, firepit and surrounding areas
  • Removing snow from roof tops
  • Building and maintaining a fire in an outdoor fire pit
  • Maintaining ice surface equipment
  • Set up and maintenance of sliding zone area (i.e. installing safety fencing, signs etc.)
  • Maintaining attraction areas with shoveling, ice picking, re-sets of fencing and signage
  • Performing daily inspections and maintenance of areas surrounding Blue Grouse Lake & Light walk
  • Following all Grouse Mountain vehicle safety procedures
  • Performing safety inspections on machines, vehicles and ice rink compressor systems
  • Performing safety inspections of all attraction areas
  • Reporting any unsafe acts, concerns or procedures to Operations Manager or Supervisor
  • Assisting guests and ensuring the highest level of customer service
  • Assisting with set up and tea down of special events
  • Assisting the skate and snowshoe rental department
  • Other duties as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position reports directly to the Mountain Crew Supervisor and Mountain Operations Duty Manager, with no direct supervisory responsibilities.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
  • Ice rink experience an asset
  • Valid driver’s license (Class 5)
  • Experience with customer service
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude an asset
  • Ability to perform well under pressure of deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Outgoing, hardworking and team-oriented person
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
WORKING CONDITIONSWinter Attractions Crew perform most of their duties outdoors and may work in all different kinds of weather conditions. Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS$19.12 to $22.37/hourAll positions are eligible for the following benefits and perks:
