
Specialist Safety Engineering

- Serve as a subject matter expert on safety rules, procedures, and standards within Engineering Operations
- Develop and implement annual functional safety plans
- Monitor safety performance and conduct audits and inspections across Canada and the U.S.
- Lead or participate in field safety activities and investigations
- Recommend and implement improvements to safety practices throughout the year
- Provide leadership in incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Represent CPKC in meetings with external regulators (e.g., Transport Canada, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) , Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)).
- Support and guide safety committees and advisory boards to ensure regulatory compliance
- High School Diploma with a preference for Post-secondary education in a safety-related field or equivalent experience
- 3 years of experience in railroad operations or a related field, with a preference for 3 years of safety experience and a strong background in Engineering Operations
- Proficient with safety platforms and various computer programs.
- Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. safety regulations and programs.
- Willingness to work flexible, non-traditional hours and in extreme weather conditions.
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally
