We manufacture ocean sensing solutions – sensors, instrumentation, and deployment systems – for business and government customers on all seven continents. As a hi-tech business, our technical team includes experts and engineers with experience in the acoustic, mechanical, electrical, software, and embedded software domains. As an Assembly Tech, you will be responsible for the timely production of high-quality, complex instruments and sensors. Your technical skills enable AML to deliver outstanding instrumentation, delighting our customers and enhancing our reputation.Responsibilities:
  • Build and test instruments, sensors, and sub-assemblies.
  • Minimize out-of-box failures
  • Strive for very high levels of quality, measured by first-pass yield and scrap rates.
  • Maintain accurate production records.
  • Complete builds within standard build time expectations.
  • Operate software & firmware programming tools.
  • Contribute to improving build yields and other improvement opportunities.
  • Understand assembly processes
  • Communicate procedure discrepancies to Ops Eng Tech.
  • Assist team members with training, troubleshooting, and meeting weekly goals.
  • Can distinguish symptoms from root cause.
  • Be proactive in raising any health and safety concerns and and assist with resolution.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable for adhering to safe work practices.
  • Promotes AML's culture and support team members.
  • Cross train across builds and backup other positions needed.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma required.
  • A diploma in Electronics Technology, or equivalent is not required, but an asset.
  • Experience with electronics or assembly is not required, but an asset.
  • Meticulous and detail oriented, with a high level of manual dexterity.
  • Assembly and soldering skills.
  • Ability to read and follow electronic schematics is an asset.
  • Can use a computer effectively and interact with various software programs.
  • Ability to learn troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Aptitude for process improvement, and can distinguish what adds value.
  • Can visualize steps and sequencing.
  • Can communicate effectively in a clear, concise, and professional manner; both written and verbal.
  • Embraces change with excitement and passion.
