The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our People & Community Department supporting our Vale Newfoundland and Labrador Operations. This is a fixed-term position, working a Monday to Friday schedule, based in St. John's. Travel to Voisey's Bay and/or Long Harbour will be required as part of this role. As an HRBP, you will be responsible to work directly with the business and lead the roll out of HR programs to the business. The HRBP is a true business partner, in place to build relationships with the business becoming a business ally, a driver and facilitator of change - translating business needs into HR requirements. Additionally, in this position you will: Act as the single HR point of contact for a designated client group, managing all HR-related matters. Lead workplace investigations and implement corrective action plans Build strong partnerships with business leaders, translating business needs into effective HR strategies and driving organizational change. Provide expert HR advice to managers on employee relations, performance management, development, policy interpretation, and compliance, escalating complex issues as needed. Coach, influence, and support leaders on organizational, talent, and workforce issues to meet current and future business needs. Drive and facilitate change initiatives, projects, and business-required programs within the client area. Apply expert knowledge of collective agreements, labour and employment legislation, grievances, and committee participation, partnering with HR leadership and legal counsel when required. Experience: A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role is required. Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of employment and labour legislation, including the Labour Relations Act, Human Rights Act, and applicable employment standards. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build effective working relationships across all organizational levels. High level of technical proficiency, with advanced skills in MS Office and HR-related systems. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive employee matters with discretion, professionalism, and strict confidentiality. Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple HR priorities in a fast-paced environment.
