- Maintain accurate daily diary entries to document construction progress and completion of contract documentation records
- Maintain daily photographic records, and videos as necessary to document construction and site activities
- Keep records of completed work for tracking bid items and material quantities for payment
- Complete daily inspections in accordance with client requirements and established standards
- Monitor that construction work is in accordance with contract documents and specifications
- Monitor the contractor’s compliance with health and safety, and environmental regulations and legislation
- Supervise and implement quality assurance acceptance and inspection of construction works
- Monitor and report on construction progress in relation to a project schedule, noting any delays or impacts
- Report to the Project Manager onsite activities, concerns, and non-conformances, and provide recommendations for resolution
- Project coordination supporting project management and design teams
- Liaise with client representatives, as required
- Other duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Civil Engineering and/or relevant on-site large infrastructure construction experience.
- A minimum 5 years of construction field engineering experience.
- Eligibility for registration as Certified Engineering Technologist
- Demonstrated experience in construction and/or construction inspection of heavy civil infrastructure that may include highway, bridges, buildings or railroads
- Ability and willingness to work overtime including nights, weekends and holidays to meet project schedules. Extended periods of travel and on-site remote work are expected, as necessary.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Experience with GPS or Total Station Surveying considered an asset
- Valid license with an acceptable driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent. (Candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma)
- A minimum of 3 years experience
- Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
- Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
