- Lead and manage archaeological assessments, ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations across BC and AB.
- Design, implement, and oversee archaeological surveying and excavation projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate archaeological considerations into environmental assessments.
- Engage with Indigenous communities and stakeholders to facilitate respectful and inclusive project outcomes.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of internal methodologies and practices, leveraging your expertise to enhance company standards.
- Post-secondary degree in archaeology or anthropology with a specialty in archaeology, or an equivalent combination of documented archaeological training, analysis, and technical writing experience which meets the qualities and standards of the BCAPA.
- 7 to 10 years of relevant experience, preferably within an environmental consultancy setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in the archaeology of British Columbia and Alberta.
- Proven leadership in managing complex projects and interdisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with a track record of successful stakeholder engagement.
- A proven track record as the primary author of archaeological publications or reports that align with the BCAPA's standards of excellence.
- A thorough understanding of all pertinent legislation and well-versed in the Heritage Conservation Act and other relevant legal frameworks, ensuring all archaeological activities are compliant.
- Must have independently held and fulfilled the obligations of a permit granted under the Heritage Conservation Act
- Expertise in directing and supervising archaeological surveys or excavations. This includes managing field teams effectively and ensuring scientific rigor in all fieldwork operations.
- Exceptional skills in engaging with clients, First Nations, and government agencies are required. Adept at fostering respectful and productive relationships with all stakeholders involved in the archaeological process.
- Comprehensive knowledge in scoping and budgeting archaeological projects is necessary. Capable of accurately assessing project requirements and costs, ensuring efficient and effective project execution.
