- Opportunities exist both in Edmonton and surrounding areas and remotely.
- Numerous local and remote projects are long term assignments relating to municipal infrastructure, highways, rail, LRT, bridges, plant site and other resource industry facilities.
- Potential for field supervisor roles on some sites.
- McElhanney has industry leading capabilities in Surveying, Scanning, RPAS/drone operations, Bathymetry, LiDAR and remote sensing, line locating and GIS, offering the opportunity to expand knowledge.
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required, as well as pre-site access testing as per client requirements.
- Field completion of surveys in support of Resource, Construction and Engineering projects including topographic surveys, layout of alignments, grades and features; high order control networks, deformation monitoring, earthworks and legal surveys.
- Work with the latest generation of instruments as well as emerging technologies.
- Work with Project Manager to understand project objectives, budgets, goals, schedules, and timeframes.
- Expand upon, or develop, processing and calculating skills to gain a broader knowledge of survey operations. Experience with TBC, Microsurvey and StarNet is an asset.
- Some projects offer the opportunity to work alongside McElhanney Site Inspectors and Engineers on site as part of the Consultant Engineers team.
- McElhanney operates a fleet of RPAS/drones with a program to continually develop staff and processes. We provide the necessary training to qualify for Advanced Certification and to enable staff to process data and compile reports.
- Where appropriate work semi autonomously to manage surveying tasks, fully supported by a project team.
- Ensure implementation of quality assurance, safety, and policy compliance.
- Two-year technical diploma in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or relatable subject with at least 2 years of previous experience in a similar role. A higher level of experience in surveying, construction or engineering will be considered if no diploma is held.
- Competence in the fundamentals and correct use of Total Stations is a necessity.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn and share knowledge.
- Physical ability to work on varied terrain, potentially over long days and the ability to lift heavy equipment.
- Experience with Civil 3D, MicroSurvey and Trimble Business Centre is an asset.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at height is beneficial (not essential).
- Flexibility to work on some remote projects for up to 21 days and ability to work up to 12 hours a day (locally or remotely).
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License is mandatory.
