We are currently recruiting individuals who are inspired by opportunity, driven by results, and aligned to NWP's core values of being responsive, innovative, and connected.The DepartmentThe Emergency Services Department offers the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) certificate programs and is housed within the state of the art Health Education Centre located inside Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH).The RoleThe Emergency Services Department is seeking multiple part-time sessional instructors to support the development, delivery, and maintenance of online content, supervise student placements, and facilitate hands-on lab instruction for the EMR and PCP programs. Part-time sessional positions are required to fulfill the following roles:
Primary instructor for the EMR responsible for onsite lab coordination and instructional delivery, for a total of 250 workload hours. Refer to courses of instruction below.
EMR Lab Instructors to fill a total of 164 workload hours. Applicants are required to submit their availability based on the onsite dates listed below. One instructor is required per day.
PCP Student Placement Support. The successful candidate(s) will work in collaboration with the NWP Emergency Services Department Placement Learning Facilitator. Applicants must have flexible availability between May 1 and August 14, 2026, to support student placements, and provide a valid driver's license and abstract in accordance with NWP driving policy, as the role involves travel to EMS stations within the North Zone.
Successful applicants must be available to attend the NWP Health Education Centre in Grande Prairie, Alberta on the specific dates selected by the candidate at the time of the job offer. An Advanced Care Paramedic Diploma is considered an asset. Candidates with other health professional designations that support interdisciplinary teaching may also be considered. A minimum of two years of full-time paramedic/healthcare practice is required, and previous experience in EMS/Healthcare education is highly preferred.Ideal candidates will embody professionalism and possess a positive attitude towards education. Candidates selected for an interview must provide their registration practice permit and all relevant certificates. The interview process will include a panel questioning session and a "teaching" segment. During this teaching session, candidates will be required to deliver a concise visual presentation on an EMS skill, to be revealed upon contact for an interview, and the presentation should be supported by documentation or handouts that would typically be provided to students. All supplies will be provided for the demonstration, and all candidates will be expected to demonstrate the EMS skill during the interview.
