We are currently seeking, on behalf of one of our clients, a high-caliber Banking Controller for their Canadian Branch.The Role & EnvironmentBased in Montreal (with a 6-month contract term) , you will play an essential role in the financial excellence of the Canadian branch. Working closely with international Finance teams in New York and Paris , you will act as a strategic pillar for a service entity that supports global operations. This role reports directly to the Canada Financial Director and follows the US Banking holiday calendar.RequirementsThe Ideal ProfileExperience: Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience, specifically within the banking or financial services sector.Education & Certifications: CPA Certification (Certified Professional Accountant) is required.Regulatory Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of banking-specific accounting principles and OSFI regulatory filings.Technical Knowledge: In-depth mastery of Canadian IFRS GAAP for public companies.Communication: French-English bilingualism is mandatory due to daily interactions with international offices.Mindset: Flexible and autonomous, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.Responsibilities & MissionFinancial Reporting: Lead the preparation and production of Canadian financial reports with rigorous quality assurance of the general ledger.Accounting Operations: Complete all necessary accounting entries for the closing of accounts and monitor management results against budget.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the branch complies with group policies and Canadian tax regulations, while piloting the preparation of regulatory reports.Process Documentation: Develop and maintain accurate, detailed documentation of all financial processes under your responsibility.Stakeholder Management: Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and tax authorities.Operational Excellence: Ensure excellence in both financial accounting and management reporting for the banking branch.Work LogisticsTerm: 6-month contract.Hybrid Work: Voluntary Working from Home (WFH) for up to 2 days per week after the initial 3-month period.Holiday Schedule: Follows the US Banking holiday calendar.
