- Advises instructors on diverse sourcing options and licensing pathways for selecting course materials; provides 1:1 assistance to instructors to support their use of systems and tools that support materials delivery including the Library's Reading List Tool, Syllabus Review Service and Course Reserves. Iteratively updates web-based guides and support materials to reflect software updates and changing user behaviors; identifies opportunities for changes and improvements to library support in response to the publishing landscape.
- Working closely with the Fulfillment Specialist and librarians, the incumbent is the primary contact for the Syllabus Review Service, reviewing faculty syllabi and identifying materials for digitization or course reserves, supporting the creation of reading lists in course management systems, and identifying options for alternate open or licensed materials for titles not available in electronic format. Refers users to subject librarians as appropriate.
- Collaborates with librarians and campus partners to advance equitable access initiatives, including supporting OER promotion, open publishing support, and the use of library-licensed content to reduce student costs.
- Conducts reference interviews in physical and virtual environments to clarify user needs and provide tailored guidance on research strategies. Provides one-on-one instruction to help users navigate complex databases, evaluate print/electronic resources, and develop academic information skills.
- Working within a broad, multi-disciplinary team, provides a range of library operations' public services activities aligned with the division's strategic and operational plans/objectives. Provides flexible coverage across various service points and projects during peak periods or organizational shifts, ensuring a consistent and reliable user experience.
- Assists users with specialized library equipment and software, including Maker Studio technologies, audio production tools, immersive spaces, and standard hardware (printers/computers), maintaining a high level of agility in learning and teaching new hardware and software as library spaces evolve.
- Processes and maintains library materials including course reserves, equipment, loanable materials to ensure availability for the campus community.
- Three or Four Year Bachelor's Degree accompanied by a credential in library and information studies such as Library and Information Technology Diploma (LIT) or a Masters of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) is required.
- 5-8 years of experience, including experience:
- in course materials and e-reserves support in an academic setting accompanied by library service and user support experience,
- advising related to electronic resources licenses, open licenses, creative commons licenses, and accessible formats, and
- in a library setting, preferably within an academic environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with Integrated Library Systems (ILS) and Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-reserves platforms.
