Job OverviewOur client, Israelson Forage, seeking a skilled and experienced Agricultural Equipment Operator to join their team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in Feedlot Operations, Custom Farming and Crop Production, and Equipment Maintenance & Repair. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our agricultural business.Key ResponsibilitiesFeedlot Operations
  • Operate and maintain various types of equipment used in feedlot operations, including feed trucks, loaders, and tractors
  • Accurately mix and distribute feed to livestock according to prescribed nutritional plans
  • Assist in the receiving and processing of incoming cattle
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of feedlot areas, including pens, alleys, and feed bunks
  • Observe and report any health issues or abnormal behavior in livestock
  • Participate in cattle sorting, weighing, and loading operations
  • Participate in the compliance with animal welfare standards and biosecurity protocols
Custom Farming & Crop Production
  • Operate a wide range of agricultural machinery, including tractors, combines, planters, sprayers, and tillage equipment
  • Perform soil preparation, planting, cultivating, and harvesting operations for various crops
  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides according to prescribed rates and schedules
  • Implement and maintain irrigation systems, ensuring proper water management for optimal crop growth
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform routine maintenance on all agricultural equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections to identify and address potential issues before they lead to breakdowns
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems on various types of farm machinery
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs and repair records for all equipment
  • Collaborate with external mechanics and dealerships for complex repairs or warranty work
  • Implement and follow preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
  • Stay updated on new equipment technologies and repair techniques through ongoing training and education
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices when operating and maintaining equipment
Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in agriculture or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience
