
Senior Library Public Service Associate

- Completion of an approved Library Technician diploma program and 2 years of experience in a customer service environment
- Completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized university and two years experience in a customer service environment, and considerable experience demonstrated in an area such as programming, information services, collection maintenance, and/or community collaboration.
- Considerable knowledge about library methods and procedures is an asset, but we are interested in hearing about other relevant skills/experience. If you have experience handling information and basic technology troubleshooting in a public service setting that requires care and empathy, we want to hear about it.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment where there are lots of competing demands is very relevant. Do you know how to juggle priorities and set boundaries without compromising on customer service?
- Please highlight your oral and written communication skills. Being a clear communicator when speaking with the public or writing an e-mail will help you shine at the library.
- Not every interaction is easy; diplomacy, tact, and empathy are a must. Please highlight your skills, particularly with conflict de-escalation.
- Please highlight your ability to participate in the planning and presentation of programs and projects, including public speaking and instruction.
- You need to be able to help with the maintenance of the library collection, following guidance from our Librarians to help shepherd books onto and off our shelves as the needs of the community shift and grow.
- Library work is physical and repetitive, with staff moving books and materials throughout the day. Physical movements such as bending, reaching, lifting, squatting, gripping and pushing book trucks are involved throughout a shift. Experience with materials handling and safe lifting techniques for larger volumes of orders/materials is preferred
- This is a very team-oriented role. We are looking for people who can follow instructions, communicate positively, and work respectfully with a diverse group of peers. You should be able to plan, organize and carry out your assigned duties and responsibilities efficiently as part of a friendly and professional team.

Sundays: 8:40am-5:10pm
